Go where no man, or woman fishes; with a rod and reel
This year we will be doing a Fly and Conventional Fishing Float Plane Expedition to several remote “Green” lakes, and Outback Rivers, in search of sizable Peacock Bass, Arapaima, Arowana, Tiger Catfish, and Giant Wolf Fish.
Our last fly fishing expedition was not a trip to your grandfather’s boat ramp; we pulled a 25ft Dugout Canoe 6k through dense, remote, and dangerous Rainforest to fish Lake Yarina, a landlocked oxbow lake brimming with Pacu, Oscar, Caiman, and other exotic species near the Brazilian border.
The Chingana team was on the ground this January through May doing reconnaissance on a ½ dozen locations for this unique fishing event.
Our object is to fly into these remote lakes and rivers and seek out the un-sport-fished waters. Techniques include; Fly Fishing, Tenkara, Conventional Rod Reel, Native Kukama Style, or Your Style.

Also known as aruanã, arowana, baiano, sulamba, macaco d’áqua. The arawana belongs to a small family of ancient fishes confined to fresh waters in Africa (1 sp), South America (3 sp), and southeastern Asia to Australia (3 sp). Amazon Peru, Chingana Expedition

The Amazon Grand Slam, a bucket list species catch. For Steve, it was Pacu, Piranha, Peacock Bass, Tiger Catfish, Oscar, and Wolf Fish.

Payara is a member of the Cynodontidae family; it is also called peixe cachorro, dog fish, saber toothed dogfish, tiger fish, guapeta.
Payara inhabit freshwater rivers and lakes in South America from the Orinoco to Paraguay River basins. The distribution of large payara is limited to a few places in Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Guyana, Peru and probably Ecuador. They prefer fast moving water, but are found in still waters of lakes and rivers as well. Payara are among the gamest of South Americas freshwater fishes, leaping when hooked and making long fast runs. They are picivorous predators that attack upward, stabbing prey with the large canine teeth and then swallowing them whole and head first.
